Elizabeth Futral

American soprano Elizabeth Futral’s San Diego Opera debut was as Stella in A Streetcar Named Desire in 2000, a role she created in the world premiere in San Francisco, and returned in 2008 as Nedda in Pagliacci. Performances include Anne Trulove in The Rake’s Progress in Oviedo, Spain, Laura Jesson in Houston Grand Opera’s Brief Encounter, Princess Yue-yang for the world premiere of The First Emperor at the Metropolitan Opera, and Euridice in the premiere of Ricky Ian Gordon’s Orpheus and Euridice. Her Violetta has been heard at Washington National Opera, Los Angeles Opera, San Francisco Opera, in Chicago, Hamburg and Berlin. Other appearances include Semele for New York City Opera, and the roles of Adina in The Elixir of Love, the title role of Partenope, Juliet in Romeo and Juliet and Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro with Lyric Opera Chicago. She has also sung with the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Bayerische Staatsoper, The Dallas Opera and Teatro Municipal in Santiago.
