Bass-baritone Philip Skinner made his San Diego Opera debut in 2007 as Abimelech in Samson and Delilah. He has sung more than 35 roles for San Francisco Opera including Edgar Ray Killen in Appomattox, Rambaldo in La rondine, Colline in La bohème and Escamillo in Carmen. Other roles include Lieutenant Ratcliffe in Billy Budd for Pittsburgh Opera, Escamillo in Carmen for Seattle Opera and Don Basilio in The Barber of Seville for Washington National Opera. He sang King Philip in Don Carlo with Portland Opera, Colline in La bohème and Ferrando in Il trovatore with Dallas Opera, and has appeared with Houston Grand Opera, Vancouver Opera, the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels and Teatro di San Carlo.
